Got this model for its range since I have a hound. I've owned it for just a month now so I have not used it a whole lot. These are my initial impressions...
Pros:
Range. Waterproof, not just water resistant. Holds its charge for a long time. Handheld unit takes 9 volt batteries, which i have a ton of. Receiver on collar recharges (and comes with its charger). Comes nicely packaged to hold extra parts. Collar is very large but the holes go to some very small sizes for my narrow-necked dog. Comes with a hunter-orange collar which is extremely useful. Glow in the dark grips have actually been quite useful, not just for show. Easy to use and I like the multiple programming options and different antennae sizes. Great for backyard training and out in the field.
Cons:
Price! I really needed the long range but would not normally spend so much on any electronic device. Would have liked a "page" function, where it vibrates to call the dog back. Other sportDOG models have this function but this one does not. The lowest setting (1) seemed almost too strong for my dog. However, she is more sensitive than other dogs I've owned/known. The collar seems a little bulky and maybe a little heavy for my 50 lb hound, would have liked it a little more streamlined.
