Our cat had surgery in the abdominal area and was sent home with the traditional cone collar to wear for 3 weeks. He hated it, couldn't eat or drink unless we took it off, was stumbling around because his equilibrium was off, and wasn't sleeping because couldn't get comfortable. Size is VERY important...I have a 12lb cat and the store recommended an XS which was way too small. Small fit perfectly. (You want it to look like a seamless intertube; see pic of my little guy on the product page.) It doesn't move, he can't get it off (it's helpful to thread the collar through the bottom as suggested by the manufacturer) and he can easily eat and move around. He seems so much more comfortable and to not mind it at all! We needed to add a little air about every 5 days to achieve maximum inflation.
FYI, we checked with our vet before using this and they suggested that because it does have the potential to move and many cats can get anything other than the cone collar off that we use it during times when our cat was being monitored during the day and put the cone on at night. We did do this for a couple days but because the collar worked so well he wore 100% of the time without any problems.
Finally...at least for cats I think this is best when you're trying to restrict access to the torso and upper legs. Depending on fit and physique of your cat, I think some cats might still be able to access their paws (ours can't). GREAT PRODUCT!
