(More customer reviews)The collar takes 6V batteries, not 9V. We got it thinking it took 9V and those would be easier to replace than 6V...they are easier to replace than 6V.
The system is best used in a rural area as a large fence, instead of in a backyard to keep the dog out of the garden.
The collar is sensitive especially when the batteries are low (which need to be replaced about once a week) and sometimes beep for no reason, frightening the dog into thinking it did something wrong, but can't figure out what. Also, cell phones close to the collar seem to set it off as well, so you have to make sure you don't carry your cell phone near the dog when it has the collar on.
The function lights on the wall mount don't seem to warn if the batteries are low, either, so you kind of have to guess or wait until the collar goes hay-wire to know if they need to be changed out.
The fence wire is thin and easily breakable, tangles easily, and is a PAIN to lay out. Splicing the wires to make laying the wire easier is also difficult, and extra parts are needed to do that.
So far the fence has served it's purpose for us (keeping the dog out of the garden), but because the collar is unpredictable, we don't use it more than absolutely necessary (about 2 hrs a day). I would not recommend this to anyone with a small/medium sized yard, only for those in the country who need to fence off an area around the house or barn to keep the dog contained.
The instruction manual is confusing (obviously poorly translated), leaves out pertinent information, and contradicts itself, so you have to figure it out by trial and error.
