I am very pleased with our Wireless Fence. It has trained all of my dogs, some none too bright, mind you, to stay on our property like nothing else has done. Two of our dogs would often explode out of the door if we weren't being super alert, take off into the wooded area next to our home and not come back for days when we first adopted them from the shelter and before we could fully train them. Now they don't even try to leave the property. One 'beep' from the collar is more than enough to get them to stay on our property so I do not have to worry about them getting out and getting lost or causing an accident by runnning out in front of cars.
I am not completely pleased with the batteries for the wireless dog collar, being expensive and exclusive - only these batteries work with this particular unit's collar. Although they 'lock' onto the collar by a turn of the battery with a screwdriver or coin, if the dogs play too rough the batteries will often come off the collar into the grass of their long play area and being black are not always easy to find again. Fortunately, the dogs have had the collars for almost a year and are well conditioned to stay on the property now, even when the collar isn't working properly (they don't try to test out the boundaries anymore and one dog is utterly convinced that it is actually the little white flags that come with the unit, used for marking the boundaries, that are the problem!)
So these batteries do work well if they are properly locked in the collar, do last a long time *if* the dog isn't testing the unit all the time in trying to escape (as the collar gives off static charge to correct the dog, of course the battery loses power, but if it isn't being used except to beep occasionally as a warning that the dog is getting close to the boundary, they last about two and a half to three months on our dogs) However, these are the only possible batteries one can use in the collar. One cannot purchase them just anywhere, but only at certain pet stores or farm-supply stores or online sites and that is very inconvenient if you need a new battery quickly. They do cost a lot, although online I can now find them a little more cheaply even taking into account shipping vs the cost of the gas to drive out to the only area store that carries them.
