(More customer reviews)I've owned a number of these harnesses over the years, and they work great. In particular for "smash face" (brachycephalic) dogs, you have to be very careful about using a collar as a means of pooch control because they are very sensitive to temperature, which is regulated by their breathing, which can be cut off when using just a regular collar. Basically, you don't want to use only a collar for anything other than a tag on any smash faced dogs because they can overheat.
So this harness is great, as opposed to other harnesses, because it does let the dog know when he's pulling without choking. It has a martingale part to the front of the harness, which squeezes a little and lets the dog know when it's pulling. Because the D ring where you attach the leash is in the front, when the dog starts pulling any harder, it gets spun around, effectively making the dog face the opposite way it wants to go. It is not as effective as a easy leader (a head-type anti pull unit), but for dogs with a very short muzzle, I have yet to find a better alternative.
I appreciate that it is more environmentally friendly than the other easy walk model and the fact that it comes with a matching leash. The blue color is a very attractive blue--much more attractive than the picture here would lead you to believe. I walked around the house briefly, the closest thing I found that matches in color is the Reynolds aluminum foil box.
That being said, initial impressions lead me to believe that it may not hold up as well as the non ECO model. It is entirely possible that it is completely psychological (as I see no physical reason for this premature judgment) but it just doesn't "feel" as sturdy as the other one. Also, the leash is skinnier than I would like--I am just used to using the 1" leashes, so this feels much less significant. (It is the same thickness as the harness--1/2".)
All in all, I'll keep it--curious to see how it holds up, and I like the way it looks.
