I think it is better than a slip collar because it releases when your dog is on either side of you, so it is safer in that way. On a slip or choke collar, if the dog goes to the other side, the collar won't release when you end your correction but will remain tight and "ratchet." This collar removes that. It is lightweight and easy to use. Unfortunately, I would like the flat part to be quite a bit longer. My dog's neck measured at 15" so I ordered the smaller size as recommended.
Gets my dog's attention a little better than a Gentle Leader. It is easy to leave by the door and slip on when visitors come.
