Doggles V Mesh Dog Harness Review

Doggles V Mesh Dog Harness
Average Reviews:

This fit my 6 month old, 10lb female Shih-tzu quite well - with some room to grow. You have to adjust the buckle (a bit finicky) to get the right fit initially. It seems comfy as the V-strap is slightly cushioned. The design is 10x superior to her old harness which buckled around her throat as well as the ribcage (it choked her). She likes it so much, she even pushes her little head through the neck hole herself! By the way, be wary if your dog has a big head as this neck hole is a bit small on the small side. The previous reviewer complained about lack of info. on sizing so here's what I discovered the company recommends & this is what I went by when I ordered:
XXS: 11-15" Girth & 2-5lbs
XS: 14-20" Girth & 5-15lbs
SM: 17-25" Girth & 12-20lbs
LG: 22-30" Girth & 20-40lbs

I'm very disapointed with the posted specs on this product as compared with the actual ones. In their add on Amazon they claim a waterproof collar and up to a 1,000 yard range. When you recieve the item on the box it claims a 220 meter range and then in the manual only a 400 ft. range. Also in the book it states that it's only water resistant and when I questioned the seller about it they claimed that the actual collar, excluding the reciever, is waterproof which is rediculous and misleading as the collar is nylon and does get wet. Since then both recievers have failed and I have sent the item back for a refund and put in a claim with Amazon. Will let everyone know how it turns out but don't be misled by these false cTRAINING COLLAR FOR TWO DOGS WITH REMOTE FOR LARGE STUBBORN DOGSlaims.

I have two small Maltese both about 7 pounds. They barked at everything. I wanted a human way to control the barking and this collar was perfect! It took about 2 times for my dogs to realize a bark = a spary. Now when I put the collar on they are quite and I don't even turn it on anymore!

I love this collar. I have a Scottish Terrier so the Plaid is perfect. The quality is great! But, from the way the picture looks, I guess I thought I was getting the leash as well. I was kind of disappointed that I paid $26 for just a small collar :(

The concept is great and when it buzzes, my airedale does notice...the problem is, it doesn't appear to be buzzing every time she does...
I just got it today so I will be keeping an eye on this and conctacting the seller if need be. I hope it works. I'm not extremely mad because the purchase was less than $15. I bought 2 (back up), it also came with an extra battery each. It was worth try if nothing else...

Platinum Pets 24 Karat Gold, choke chain - dog training collar (4mm large, 22") Review

Platinum Pets 24 Karat Gold, choke chain - dog training collar (4mm large, 22)

I was excited because golden chains are not common, and my dog is a golden retriever, so I bought this collar and the matching leash. Very good quality material, very heavy. But He always wears 22" collars, either: nylon, leather or choke chain. This was small on him, I couln't get it on, didn't even get the head through. Maybe it's inteded for a large dog of a small breed? I wouldn't recommend it for a large - large dog. Too bad.

PetSafe Deluxe Little Dog Bark Control Collar Review

PetSafe Deluxe Little Dog Bark Control Collar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had a really bad experience with anti-bark shock collars nearly ten years ago. My last dog was extremely stubborn and while the collar deterred his barking for the first few days, he did what the enclosed instructions stated he might do and became 'bark happy' during the second week to 'test' the boundaries of his training. Well, the instructions advise that you remain consistent and continue use of the collar during the 'test' phase, which I tried to do but I eventually gave in and trashed the collar when he started to develop sores on his neck. I then tried the citronella spray collar, but he was also one of those dogs who learned that if he laid down and turned his head to the side - he could bark non-stop to 'empty' the cartridge completely, freeing him to then bark as he pleased. Gosh he was a pain in my butt!! Miss that lil guy :).
Now my new pup has been a lot easier to train overall and he knows he's not supposed to bark when you're in the room. If he does start barking, a firm 'No' or a loud hand clap is often enough to stop him however, if I'm upstairs or out of the house he immediately jumps onto the back of the sofa to bark out the window at all the other neighborhood dogs, who love to bark right back. As soon as you re-enter the room or he hears you coming, he'll immediately dive for his dog bed and sit there prim and proper as if he'd been sitting there all along. The first day I put this collar on him, I stepped outside to give it a quick test and instead of the non-stop barking I'm accustomed to hearing as soon as the door closes, I heard one bark then silence. I immediately went inside to make sure my lil' buddy wasn't too traumatized from the experience but he just sat there with a 'nothing unusual going on here' look on his face, followed me to the kitchen for a little treat, and has not barked again since. Because he's not as defiant as my last dog and he seemed to respond so very well from just one corrective response, I have high hopes that this collar will get the job done.
It seems to me as if they've made a lot of improvements from the shock collars I remember years ago. One of my concerns was that my dog is a very itchy lil fellow (no fleas, allergies or mites - he just likes to 'scratch, scratch, scratch' a few times a day) and the older collars would send a shock from any type of vibration it interpreted to be a bark. My last dogs collar would sometimes go off if you tapped your nails on it or bumped it into something. This collar claims to use 'the most reliable bark detection available' in that it uses both vibration and sound sensors to discriminate each bark from other external noises. Static correction is only administered if both the vibration from the vocal chords and the sound from the bark match the same criteria. So far, so good - I have not observed any instance of the collar going off from his play time or his personal 'scratching' time.
I also like that the collar has built in software that tracks the number of corrections needed to reduce and eliminate the number of nuisance barks. There are 10 levels of static correction and the software will increase or decrease the correction intensity as needed (it goes into greater detail of how this works in the manual).
And lastly, I appreciate the built-in safety feature ensures that the collar will automatically shut off for 3 minutes if your dog barks 15 times or more within a 1 minute and 20 second period. I've heard some dog's initial reaction to the corrective measure might be to 'yelp' and that could create an ongoing cycle of corrective feedback for the wrong behavior. You're trying to stop nuisance barking, not correct them for being too startled to make the connection that they need to stop barking. Perhaps this would also minimize the potential of sores from developing as they had with my last dog who would bark 8 hours straight without even so much as a flinch to the static response he was receiving.
One concern I do have is that the collar will retain the correction level for your dog, even after the collar has been turned off (which you're supposed to do whenever it's not in use to prolong battery life). If you have multiple dogs, make sure you're using the same collar on the same dogs each time. Page 7 of the instruction manual explains how you can also reset the Correction Level back to 1. I would recommend doing this even if you think the collar is brand new because you never know if it had somehow been returned/previously used.
On a final note - Model PBC00-10782 is the same collar but is marketed as the "comfort fit" version. It has a rubber/plastic collar as opposed to the nylon collar but many of the reviews indicate that the firm shape of the collar makes it very difficult to size it properly around their dogs neck - especially with smaller breeds. I don't know why it would be considered a more comfortable collar... it just looks like it would be uncomfortable! The nylon collar is the one I have and is the one I'm writing the review for - Model PBC00-12726. My dog is a 7.5 lbs male shihtzu and it fits him perfectly, no problems.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this training collar but I wouldn't expect it to be a one size fits all solution. No one training method will work 100% of the time - but this has definitely been working well for me and my dog.

Well, the lil fella did eventually 'test' the boundaries of his collar and I'm glad to say that it still continues to deter him from barking. I would never laugh at the discomfort of my pet but I have to admit his little experiment cracked me up. He sat down right smack in the middle of the living room and made one very loud "Brrrufffff!". Wasn't barking at me or at anything in particular, just to himself. There wasn't a wimper or any outward appearance of discomfort and after a moment passed, he let out a second loud "Brrrufffff!". This time, no wimper, but you could see he was really bracing himself when he let out his third and final "Brrrruffff!" and his little legs flew right out from under him. He just picked himself right up like nothing had happened and walked into the kitchen to eat his dinner, lol.
I'm also excited to comment on how much more well behaved my lil guy is "overall" since I've introduced this collar to him. It's like night and day. He's still fun and playful but he no longer mouths hands or growls during play time, he's far more 'attentive' during training, he stays 'nearly' perfectly still during grooming (before he'd try and bite/play with the brush or refused to lay on his back so I could brush out his chest), he no longer "hugs" house guests and he spends more time just sitting with me on my lap like the lap dog I had hoped for :). I'm certain that this is a direct result of him no longer barking (maybe barking at the neighborhood dogs was show of aggression that in turn spilled over to his behavior?) and not something else as I haven't changed any of his other routines (feedings, walks, grooming, play time, etc). This has been an outstanding purchase for me and I couldn't be happier. I would however like to eventually wean him off this collar so that we're not dependant on it. Not sure how to go about that so if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear from you!

Doggles Over the Head Dog Harness Review

Doggles Over the Head Dog Harness
Average Reviews:

Harnesses are very difficult to buy. Michiko (the dog) seems to finds most harnesses uncomfortable and runs when ever she sees them. I have tried numerous and I think she finds there is to much pressure on her chest. I saw this one and decided to give it a try. She likes it very much. Since the area over the chest on this harness is much larger, the pressure caused by pulling is distributed more evenly. She sits very calmly when putting it on and gets very excited when she sees it because she knows its walk time. Its a snap to put it on and take off. I have a Shiba Inu and the small size fits her perfectly and she looks absolutely adorable it in.

Dog Silencer Pro Ultimate Pack Review

Dog Silencer Pro Ultimate Pack
Average Reviews:

----Update----
A few months after I wrote this review, the device suffered an electronic failure and quit working. Fortunately it was still under warranty. The return process was painless (except for having to pay to ship it back to the manufacturer) and I received my replacement (either new or refurbished, I cannot tell) in a very reasonable amount of time. I was happy with the return/exchange process (except for paying for return shipping). A few days later, I hooked the item up, and it cannot detect Conan barking, therefore it does not activate. Although I originally rated this product high, due to two failed units, I cannot recommend this product.
Pros: It works. It really works. It brought peace to our household. Our next door neighbor (not the one who owns the barking dog) thanked us for hooking this thing up. Keep reading for a more detailed explanation.
Cons: The efficacy relies on a direct-line-of-sight with the perpetrator and then frequent tinkering with the bark detection level control knob. This may require the use of ladders and extension cords. If the remote control would allow a display of whether or not the devices works while in silent mode as well as a way to adjust the bark detection control knob the unit would win five stars.
More: This device silenced the neighbor's dog in two days, but I understand dog training so your results may vary. This device will stop nuisance barking (barking for absolutely no reason) but it will probably not stop dogs from barking for legitimate dog reasons (somebody is walking by, a car drives by, somebody is too close to the fence, etc).
My neighbor's dog is a huge animal with a very deep bark. I don't know the dog's name but we call him "Conan" because he has such a loud, strong, deep irritating bark. Even though Conan is a good 50 feet away from our house I can hear the bark inside every room of my house. When he barks it practically rattles the windows. Thank God they bring him in at night or else I wouldn't be able to sleep. I'm assuming that the owners must be deaf. I've never seen them use sign language, but there is no way that any reasonable human being would put a dog as loud as Conan right outside of their house and pretend not to hear it. Well, maybe they aren't deaf. Maybe they are crazy or perhaps from a different planet like Bizzaro World where people feel that a dog barking loud enough to make the paint peel off the walls sounds soothing like a babbling brook or an ocean surf. But I digress. I decided to take action and I purchased this device from the manufacturer's web site.
It arrived in about 3 days. I skimmed over the instructions and plugged it in. I pointed it at my own dog, a German Shepherd, to see her reaction and when the ultrasonic (quiet) mode was activated she ran away from it and hid. So I knew it was doing something.
Day One: Following the instructions, I adjusted the control so it would go off when Conan barked but not so sensitive that it would just activate at random times. Knowing what I do about dog training, I know that it's very important for the device to operate only when the dog barks. From my upstairs window I have a filtered view of Conan through tree branches and I put the device in between the window and the screen pointed directly at him. On day one as Conan barked we could see him looking in our direction. But the barking was greatly reduced. I didn't know if it was coincidence or not.
Day Two: I haven't heard Conan. I didn't even know he was outside until I banged on the window (which activated the unit) and he gave a couple of barks (which also activated the unit). Then he shut up again.
Day three: Where's Conan? I can't hear him! This is Saturday, Conan Bark Day, and no Conan. I'm worried now, did he die or run away? Where is my neighbor's dog? So I approached the fence line towards Conan. Woof! Woof! Woof! He is still there, but quiet until disturbed! When I retreated about 20 feet he was silent again. Of course the unit was countering his barks with the ultrasonic sound.
Day four: I haven't heard Conan at all. I'm not even sure he is outside.
Days five through 14: I can see Conan but I can't hear him. This device works as advertised. If I approach the fence, Conan starts barking. When I retreat, he stops barking. This is a huge improvement over 12 hours of non-stop barking for absolutely no reason. I am lucky that there is a good 20-foot buffer of land that we don't use for any reason between us and Conan. Based on what I've observed, if we used the 20-foot buffer area he would still bark, however the device has not been used in that manner. So your results may be different, and so may ours if we decide to use that land and re-train Conan again.
Conclusion: It worked for us. The device came with a remote, but because of it's limited function, I've never used it. The device emits a loud, but inaudible to humans siren when it detects sounds like a bark. While effective, the technology doesn't seem like rocket science to me and even though it was effective, $100 seems like an awful lot of money for something that I suspect will eventually be available from a Chinese manufacturer for $9.99. If I was the manufacturer of this device, I would price the product more commensurate with what it does. It is not a canine mind control device, it's just a microphone, a speaker, and a few cheap circuits enclosed in a plastic case. But like I said, it works. If your peace of mind is worth spending $100 for $9.99 worth of electronics, this is the device for you.

Authentic Puppia Soft Dog Harness, Orange, X-Small Review

Authentic Puppia Soft Dog Harness, Orange, X-Small
Average Reviews:

I like puppia harnesses, they are sturdy and nice looking. My chihuahuas are skinny so I bought and xsmall because the small size is just a tad bit too big. The head opening on the (orange)xsmall is tiny, making it almost impossible to get over my dog's head. My chi's heads aren't that wide. I'm giving the harness a 4/5 just because there seems to be a big difference in head opening size between the xsmall and small but puppia makes the best harnesses out there. Possibly a manufacturing defect? I just got a camo xsmall and the head opening isn't an issue. Strange. Just be aware that head holes on these harnesses can vary.
