(More customer reviews)My little Gracie is the sweetest little thing. Honest! The only problem is that she has certain... triggers. Every time someone knocks on our front door, that little white dog turns into the loudest thing you've ever heard. I swear, it's like she grows an extra set of lungs, or a fog horn or something. Another trigger of hers is other dogs. She's a tiny little thing with a huge Napoleon complex, so even dogs that could swallow her whole like an hors d'oeuvre get the full "You wanna go?" treatment. The barking was annoying but livable, but I was a little concerned about her getting into fights. What if a dog at the park decided to teach her a lesson when wasn't able to? What if she decided that shiny metal dog named "Toyota Corolla" really had it coming and Gracie decided to bring the fight out into the middle of the road?
I had never heard of Outstanding Pet, but a friend of me pointed me in their direction. Still not sure, I went to the website --turns out they're based in Chicago, which was a plus for me (I have major home town pride). I asked a few questions to customer service, mostly just to get a feel for the company. They seemed very friendly and knowledgeable about their product, so I decided to place an order.
A shock collar wasn't the first thing I tried but it will be the last. As soon as the collar arrived in the mail (remarkably fast, I might add!) I put it on Gracie and decided to go to the park for a test. Before we even got to the park, we ran into young couple walking their golden. I saw that old look in Gracie's face, and pushed the vibrate button--I don't think I'd ever seen a dog look so confused! But within a few seconds she was fixated on the golden again, so I opted for a small shock. I had decided that Gracie (being so small) would probably respond to the lightest shock, and I was right, plus I'm glad I didn't have to use anything stronger! We kept walking, and when we got right by the golden Gracie started to look interested, but I hit the vibrate button again, and it worked like a charm! She was learning!
I'll admit, even with my friend's glowing review, I was dubious about the remote. While it feels solid enough, there's just this little nubbin at the top for an antenna. Nevertheless, when Gracie was at the dog park, she would visibly respond to a quick push of a button, even when running around!
I was hesitant to try this, and I was close to trying a different manufacturer, but I'm glad I went with outstanding pet! Highly recommended!
