These ID tags work by using velcro instead of metal to attach them to collars. It's an ingenious little idea, and much appreciated. It simply wraps around the collar. My dog is not an overactive canine, but even for a more active pet, the tags seem to stay in place well and do not fall off or come off with alot of running or playing.
The tags come in a variety of colors, styles and sizes, so there is something for everyone. I love the idea behind them and I love the tags. Highly recommend!

I got two of these, one 24" and one 28" for my two rotts. They look really good, and seem to be holding up well (I've had them for almost 2 months now. The only thing that I must say with this, is make sure to measure your dogs neck, because if you think hes a 24"... hes really a 28" lol

The Zodiac Breakaway collar is the ONLY one I will use on my cat.Been using these for decades.
I don't like the drops and the non-breakaway type is not something I would put on an outdoor cat.
Even if they only go out sometimes, they can get caught on a branch or whatever and I would rather give them a fighting chance by having a collar that breaks away.

Herm Sprenger Prong Collar 14 inch Lightweight Review

Herm Sprenger Prong Collar 14 inch Lightweight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I found this "prong" or "pinch" training collar to be of very good quality, much better than other brands that you may find at your typical pet store. The tips of the prongs are rounded off so as not to dig into the skin of the pooch's neck. I actually tried this collar on myself, and found it to be NOT uncomfortable, to the contrary of many vocal dissidents against prong collars as being "barbaric" for the pet. The key to successful use of this as a training aid is to properly fit the collar high up on your dog's neck, just below the ears. Adjust it tightly enough so that it doesn't slip down, but not so tight as to pinch the dog's neck without any added pressure from the leash. You MUST measure your dog's size properly using the circumference of the neck just below the ears. The links are removable and can be added or removed to adjust the size of the collar. You will probably need to add extra links if your dog's neck is at 12" or larger, since the measured length of the Sprenger collar is 14" laid flat and doesn't account for the smaller circumference when measured from the tips of the prongs themselves. It may be more cost effective to purchase two entire collars that to buy extra links. The slip chain part goes on the side of the dog's neck, not the top. There are two ring's on the slip chain part, a larger "dead" ring, and a smaller "active" ring. Connecting the leash to he dead ring limits the tightness that can be applied to the prong collar, while use of the active ring gives a stronger and quicker correction. Correction is accomplished by a quick but gentle sideways snap of the leash. The correction is supposed to feel similar to a corrective nip that a mother dog would give to a puppy. This training collar is NOT meant to be pulled on so that the prongs constantly dig into the pooch's neck. I have this collar for training my 65 lb pit bull, and it works great. You really don't need a "stronger" collar with larger prongs unless you have a large dog that really is stubborn and pulls hard. Remember, prong collars are for training purposes only and should not be left on you pooch longer than needed for the day's training period. Use a regular collar for fashion and identification purposes.

We've been using this product for several years, in a large 3 acre yard with two dogs. The frustrating thing is that the collars only seem to be good for about a year and a half, then will no longer charge. At over $90 apiece to replace per dog, it has been an expensive investment.

Puppia Soft Dog Harness (Mesh) Orange Small Review

These harnesses are wonderful! They come in such cute colors, and they seem so much more comfortable than other harnesses.
I have three Bichon Frises who loooove to go on walks, and one of them in particular HATES wearing a collar. I had a harness for her, but it was bulky and seemed very uncomfortable- so I was very excited when I saw someone in town with one of these harnesses on their dog. I went online that day and bought these harnesses! My only suggestion is that I wasn't a smart shopper and didn't measure my dogs before hand, I just kind of guessed... I wound up ordering smalls and they actually needed larges!! Yes- a BICHON needs a large! So make sure you measure your dog before you order these!
These harnesses are so cute and comfortable- your best friend will love them! :)

PetSafe Deluxe Little Dog Trainer, PDT00-10867 Review

PetSafe Deluxe Little Dog Trainer, PDT00-10867
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife and I love pets and we treat them like family members. They sleep in our beds, eat with us, and travel with us all over the world. We spare no expense on the best food, vet care, toys, healthy treats, clothes, etc. So we were very reluctant to even consider a shock collar but our newest puppy has been very stubborn and hasn't responded to the normal training methods. After doing a lot of research we finally decided to try this collar.
Our dog is a 10-lb. 6-month old matli-poo so he is pretty small and thin but he is at least a bit bigger than a yorkie or chihuahua. When we first opened this collar it appeared to be a bit too stiff and rigid to bend around his small neck, however after we adjusted the buckle and trimmed it to size then it wasn't too bad. We can use the quick-release buckle to take it on or off as designed, however it is a little akward to bend the stiff collar band around the hinged metal buckle while you snap the plastic buckle in place, and the fine fur from around his neck often gets stuck in the plastic buckle slots so we have to be careful not to pinch his fur. Once it is on properly then it fits him ok but it is obviously harder for him to sleep or lay down with it on so we take it off when he is napping or in bed for the night.
We read the instructions at least 3 times from front to back, charged the remote for 24 hours, and then installed the battery in the collar. It fired right up with the blinking green light and completed the self-tests just fine. Then we stuck the collar against our own skin and tested the various shock levels to make sure they wouldn't hurt him. The 0, 1, and 2 settings were so mild that we could barely feel them so we were relieved and not worried at all about using it on him. Then the big moment of truth came: we put it on him for his first training session. Wearing it didn't seem to bother him at all and it didn't take long for him to misbehave. At the first sign of bad behavior we called out NO! and issued the warning beep. He ignored us just as before, but then we called out NO! again and hit the shock on level 0. He didn't react to the shock at all so we tried again on level 1 - he only barely noticed but continued his bad behavior. Finally on level 2 he immediately stopped his bad behavior and did not return to it again. He didn't yelp, bark, or cry but he did stop his behavior and shake his head a little as if confused. After just a few shocks for bad behavior on level 2, we now rarely need to shock him for real. He has learned that the command NO! is to be taken seriously, and if he ignores our command then we give him a warning tone and it turns him into an angel. So the collar really does work, and it is humane and harmless, so we would highly recommend it as a true miracle... but there is one issue which is a big problem...
We intended to keep the collar on our dog for somewhere between 4-6 hours each day during his most active periods. We would only need to issue a warning tone or shock maybe 3 times throughout the day and the rest of the time the collar would be turned on but idle. The instruction book says that if you leave the collar turned on continously then the collar battery will last about 2 weeks. This was fine with us, but in our case the first collar battery which came with the unit died after just 2 hours of use. The light on the collar goes from blinking green to blinking red to warn of a low battery, and then just a few minutes later it goes to solid red and the collar shuts off indicating a dead battery. If you turn it off and back on a little while later you might get a few more minutes out of the battery but then it dies again. So we figured that our unit was shipped with a bad battery, maybe from sitting in a store warehouse too long. I called the manufacturer and they were super nice. They sent me a whole new unit along with a prepaid return shipping label for the old one. The new unit arrived and looked just like the old one. We anxiously charged it and tested it as before with good results, but then the collar battery died again after just a few hours of use.
Now I must say that I am a very technical person. I often build and repair my own electronic devices so I know a lot about these things. I am not someone that puts the batteries in backwards or has trouble charging products. After seeing the second collar battery die so quickly I went back and read all the instructions yet again to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I checked the battery and collar several times for any defects. I searched the web for any similar problems. The only thing I found was a tip on how to modify the collar battery holder so that you can replace the battery yourself instead of buying their expensive replacements. So I modified my battery holder as shown, which was very easy, and then I purchased a dozen high quality photo batteries which are specifically designed for professional cameras and dog collars with a high power drain. The new batteries arrived and I tested them each before using them - every one was fully charged. The modification worked great and the collar fired right up with the new battery in it, but once again the new battery only lasted about 2 hours. I cycled through 7 more batteries, all of which were brand new Energizer brand, but all of them died after just 1-2 hours of use. And I am not talking about a lot of beeps or shocks here. We would only get maybe 2 warning beeps out of it in the 1-2 hour period and then it would be dead. Most of the time we never even used a shock at all.
So we have now tried two brand new units and roughly 10 different batteries, and the collar itself works wonderfully well when it works, but the batteries die in just a few hours of idle use. This is totally unacceptable but I had to wonder why more people are not complaining. Other people talk of days, weeks, or even months before their batteries die. So I called the manufacturer back again and they are sending me out a new factory battery for free to try in this second unit. If it lasts a long time then maybe we just got really unlucky and had 10 bad batteries in a row, but somehow I think the collar is too blame. Perhaps a small percentage of units have a short which drains the battery too fast, and if so then I will exchange my collar a third time and hope for the best. But if the new battery doesn't do the trick and the third exchange fails then I will go for a refund and buy a different brand. We are really sold on using this type of product if it will only work for more than 1-2 hours per battery. I will update this review when we find out what the answer is.
Update:
I just received a new replacement battery from the manufacturer. We installed it and turned the collar on then immediately put it on our dog for the evening. It worked great for about 4 hours but we only had to press the warning tone button 4 times and we never used the shock feature at all during this period. I did notice the low battery indicator coming on near the end of the 4-hour period but it was still working when we removed it. We turned off the collar and removed it from the dog when he went to sleep. The next morning we turned the collar back on and put it on the dog when he woke up, but it only lasted about 1 hour and then the battery was completely dead. So a brand new battery only lasted a total of 5 hours which included only 4 warning tones and no shocks. This is very poor battery life and is not even close to the 2-week average life which is mentioned in the instruction book. And a new battery normally costs about $10 so this would cost $2 per hour to use the collar not to mention you would have to replace the batteries all the time. No thank you. We really like the way the collar fits and works when the battery is good, but the battery life is just way too short and replacements are not cheap so it is going back for a refund. We will look for a different brand with better results.

Guardian Gear Prong Training Collar 3 MM/18 In Review

Guardian Gear Prong Training Collar 3 MM/18 In
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 7 month old Lab mix is a very dominate type of puppy. I didn't realize this until it was too late and the behaviors of a dominate dog started to set in. Going on walks with him wasn't very pleasant, but not bad either. He would pull and tug at his pleasure and walk in front of me, pulling me as we went. Well i tried training him to walk properly but honestly i didn't put too much effort into it, and that is my own shortcomings.
I was reading a puppy training book and decided to get this collar. It works fine. The size i got was the medium i believe, which was way too big. i nearly had to remove all but 3 prongs to get it to fit on the dog correctly. First time we went for a walk it was a pleasant one. He's no longer pulling at his own accord and is very well tempered. He still tries to walk ahead of me, but we're working on that. I also had him wear the collar whenever my nieces came to visit. He behaved around them with it on, with it off he would tug at their clothes.
The only con is that the collar discolors his fur, leaving a darkened stain. Maybe its the metal coating that's leaving the black residue?

This product does serve it's purpose and is affordable, how ever the cost of batteries for this collar are high. I have found that removing the battery after every use is required as it will drain a new battery if left in over night. My Min pin has stopped making noise when I have to leave him at home while I work I only use the collar when I am going to work or somewhere that the dog cannot go and I remove it from his neck when I return home.

ANTI BARK STOP BARKING ELECTRIC SHOCK DOG TRAINING COLLAR Review

ANTI BARK STOP BARKING ELECTRIC SHOCK DOG TRAINING COLLAR
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
uses up the battery often. doesn't work on low barks, growls or whines...only works with loud barks. (our dog's main issue is whinning, he whines for everything) the collar must be so tight for it to have skin contact to work (almost choking the dog) (sometimes I wonder if he's not barking because he can't breath!) I don't think it would be easy to make skin contact on a dog that has a lot of hair. the price is great, so if you have a minor barking issue and a smart dog you could probably get away with using this product and not have to go thru too many batteries before the dog associates the collar with the barking...we have a border collie and he's pretty smart...it's to the point now that we can put the collar on (not as tight, but snug) and regardless of the batteries status, he is pretty quiet when he's wearing it. We use a similar one for 'whinning' with a remote control, so he 'thinks' the collar equals quiet, lay down, do nothing...which means we have to take it off a lot of the time or he will go nuts with bottled up energy!

Herm Sprenger Prong Collar 20 inch Heavyweight Review

Herm Sprenger Prong Collar 20 inch Heavyweight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Great collar for training. It is well made, with smooth, rounded prong tips. I find that most people have no idea how to properly fit this collar and as a result, the collar is too low on the neck and becomes much less effective. The collar has to be fitted snugly high up on the neck, behind the dog's ears. You also have to determine what level of correction you dog needs. You can use the collar on the "dead ring" or on the "live ring". Anyone who has not been taught how to properly fit and use a prong collar has to research this FIRST. You can find the fitting information on the Leerburg training website at Leerburg.com. Type in Prong Collar and an e- article on "How to Fit a Prong Collar" will come up. Being properly educated makes all the difference. This collar is great for training the "heel" during walking and for corrections in training. May people feel the prong collars are barbaric, but if they are used properly, they are safe and very effective. These collars are used to simulate the same correction a mother or older dog gives using their teeth on the neck of a puppy who is not behaving. Last I checked, this was not considered barbaric behavior in dogs. This collar is better than a "choke chain" or "slip collar" because those collars choke the dog and can cause damage to the dog's neck and airway. The prong collar does not "choke" the dog and instead puts simply puts pressure on the neck. I recommend this collar to anyone who is serious about training their dog effectively.
